School Budget
The 2009-10 Budget Adopted: At it's meeting on Tuesday, April 14, the BOE adopted the 2009-10 school district budget. The process was a long and difficult one as the state had originally indicated a $1.4 million reduction in aid and the federal government made money available through the stimulus act. The bottom line is that the district is in solid financial shape and the negative effect of the national economic crisis will be minimal at least for the next school year. Anticipated declining enrollment and a two year limit on the federal aid may present a different picture two years down the road as the NYS teachers' retirement and NYS employees retirement systems have been hit by the decline on investments. Districts will need to contribute greater amounts in ensuing years, particularly if the economy does not rebound quickly.
